FloorConnector glossary

Plain-language definitions for the public product site, contractor website workflows, and the specialty flooring workflow from first request through customer review.

Operating Workflow

Public intake

A public request path that captures customer, service, site, condition, timeline, and photo context before office review.

Assessment

Reviewed site context for measurements, substrate condition, photos, risks, access, and estimator handoff. It supports estimating without becoming a second project record.

Estimate

The contractor-reviewed commercial scope and price record presented before customer approval, contract, project execution, and billing.

Project

The operational hub for connected customer, estimate, contract, schedule, field, document, invoice, payment, and closeout context.

Job

The production work record tied to scheduling, crew handoff, field execution, daily logs, proof, closeout, and billing readiness.

Customer And Trust Boundaries

Customer portal

A protected customer-safe view over approved shared records such as estimates, contracts, invoices, warranty documents, evidence, and project status.

Tenant boundary

The separation that keeps one contractor organization's records, users, permissions, and customer access isolated from another.

Provider action

An external send, payment, signature, file, analytics, or integration action. Public marketing pages do not perform these actions without explicit approval and configured providers.

Canonical record

The shared business record that owns workflow truth. Public pages, portals, and app workspaces should point back to these records instead of creating duplicate versions.

Contractor Website Terms

Contractor site

A public website for a flooring contractor that can explain services, service areas, proof, and quote intake while preserving the protected FloorConnector workflow behind it.

Quote request

A customer-submitted request for contractor review. It is not an instant quote, committed scope, scheduled job, or final price.

Service area

A geographic area a contractor publicly describes serving, used to help customers route relevant quote requests.
